Mountain Goat operates “The Cross Lakes Experience” daily throughout the summer, from Monday 18th March 2024 until Sunday 3rd November 2024. This service connects Bowness-on-Windermere to Hill Top Farm House and on to Hawkshead.

On arrival at Ash Landing our Mountain Goat bus makes it way up to the hamlet of Far Sawrey home to Pure Lakes. It will continue on to Hill Top Farm, the home of Beatrix Potter in the hamlet of Near Sawrey.

Please visit the National Trust website for details on prices and opening times.

The 525 service continues onwards to the picture perfect village of Hawkshead. Exploring the village is a great way to spend an afternoon. Hawkshead's delightful church, St Michael and All Angels is well worth a visit, as well as Wordsworth’s grammar school. Pop in and get some Grasmere Gingerbread at their shop in the village and with plenty of places to go for lunch you'll find this makes a great day out.

Our 525 service links into other transport services enabling a car-free day out.  At Mountain Goat we are very proud of working with our partners to provide sustainable transport in the Lake District.

Tickets can be purchased on the day of travel from Windermere lake Cruises ticket office or from the Mountain Goat bus driver.

(Please note the 525 takes only cash)
